A peaceful, welcoming space at Azalea Estates for short-term recovery
Short-Term Stays, Full-Community Access

Relax, recover, and see if it feels like home.

Respite care at Azalea Estates is a short-term stay, typically 30 days or longer, with access to every service and amenity our long-term residents enjoy. Same staff, same dining room, same wellness programs. No second-class experience.

We offer respite care for three distinct situations: post-hospital or post-surgical recovery, caregiver respite (giving a family caregiver a well-deserved break), and prospective residents who want to experience the community before committing to a permanent move.

That last group is worth mentioning: once respite care guests experience our homelike setting and community, they often choose to become residents.

Who Respite Care Is For

Three reasons families choose a short stay.

One-on-one recovery support at Azalea Estates

Post-Surgical & Hospital Recovery

Recovering from a hip replacement, cardiac event, stroke, or other health episode often requires more support than home allows. Respite care at Azalea Estates provides a safe, supportive environment with on-site licensed nursing, 24/7 staffing, wellness programs, and three nutritious meals daily. Exactly what the recovery process needs.

Caregiver Relief

Family caregivers do extraordinary, often invisible work. A week or month of respite care gives a primary caregiver the time to rest, travel, or attend to their own health, with the confidence that their loved one is in expert, compassionate hands. Caregiver wellbeing matters too, and we take it seriously.

Trial Stay Before Moving

Choosing a senior living community is a significant decision. A respite stay lets prospective residents experience the dining room, join activities, meet neighbors, and get a feel for daily life before making any long-term commitment. It’s the best possible way to answer the question: “Could this feel like home?”

Common Questions

Respite Care — FAQs

How long is a typical respite stay?

Most respite stays are 30 days or longer, though shorter arrangements may be possible depending on availability. We recommend calling us directly to discuss timing and current availability. Our admissions team will give you an honest answer about what we can accommodate.

Does respite care include personal care services?

Yes, if needed. Personal care services (bathing assistance, medication management, mobility support, and so on) are available to respite guests on the same tiered basis as our long-term assisted living residents. If no personal care is needed, the stay is simply all-inclusive community living with meals, wellness, and activities.

Is there nursing on-site during a respite stay?

Yes. Our on-site licensed RN and LPN are available during the day, and 24/7 staffing is in place throughout a respite stay. The same coverage our permanent residents receive. We don’t provide a lesser experience for short-term guests.

Can a respite stay transition to a permanent residency?

Yes, and this happens more often than families expect. If a respite guest decides they want to stay permanently, we work with the family to make that transition as smooth as possible. The respite stay essentially functions as a trial period, and many of our current residents found us that way.

Does long-term care insurance cover respite stays?

Many long-term care insurance policies include a respite care benefit, often a set number of days per year. Our admissions team can help you understand your policy and complete any required documentation. Call us and we’ll review it together.

We brought Mom here for a month after her hip surgery. She was so comfortable and so well cared-for that when it was time to go home, she asked if she could stay. That was two years ago.
